Bangladesh Shop Owners' Association has announced to close all markets and shops across the country on March 17 on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary. 

The announcement was made at a meeting of the organisation on Sunday,  the association President Md Helal Uddin confirmed the matter to The Business Standard. 

The organisation also urged the shop owners to decorate the markets with colourful lighting.

"Markets and shops across the country will be closed on 17 March to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he said.

Organisation's secretary general Jahirul Haque Bhuiyan and FBCCI directors Abdur Razzak, Abu Motaleb and Hafeez Harun were present at the meeting alongside leaders of various business organisations.
