Social media trends can create buzz around anyone. Although these trends can be negative or positive, surely once people get on tweeting about a particular trend, it works like a snowballing effect. People keep in getting engaged.

Indian users on Twitter attributed someone else's tweets to the Spiderman actor Tom Holland and #boycottspiderman started to trend on the micro-blogging site. It happened due to identical names of a cricketer-historian and the spiderman actor.

Historian and cricketer Tom Holland tweeted about the renaming of Motera Stadium after Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Holland tweeted, "I'm a huge admirer of the modesty Modi showed in naming the world's largest cricket stadium after himself." As per reports, the Sardar Patel Stadium (Gujarat) was popularly known as Motera Stadium. It has recently been renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium. It is touted as the largest stadium in the world.

But, some users mistook him to be a Hollywood actor with Spider-Man fame. They felt that the Hollywood actor and his Spider-Man movie series might not have to bear the brunt of the tweet by Holland. It all happened in such a sarcastic way that some Twitter users and Tom Holland who made the tweet against the name change of Motera Stadium also got a chance to have fun for a while.

They started to trend #BoycottSpiderman on Twitter.

But, the question is, where did the idea of Spider-Man come from? So the name of the Hollywood actor of Spider-Man is also Tom Holland.

The upcoming Spider-Man movie by Tom Holland the actor got massive hate for spreading 'international propaganda.' Before anyone knew it, Spider-man became 'anti-national', part of the 'toolkit' controversy and whatnot.

Many people including actor and comedian Vir Das was amused to see this trend.

Das tweeted, "Wait...Spiderman is from JNU?"

The series of satires continued in this way. Actor Ashwin Mushran wrote- 'So, I am not going to see a Spider-Man movie ever again!' Something has to be sacrificed ….. country first …. film later.' On this Holland replied in response, "My campaign to cancel all the films of that superhero has gained ……. ha ha ha!"

That's it - I'm never going to watch a Spiderman film again! Some sacrifices have to be made... Country 1st... Movie later https://t.co/05m6Qebzvs— Ashwin Mushran (@ashwinmushran) February 24, 2021

Now what? Boycott spiderman? https://t.co/ws4pjtLgAH— ~SharanyA~ (@titir03) February 24, 2021

Later, author Tom Holland took matters into his own hands and before things could blow up tweeted this thread. "My campaign to get all those superhero films canceled proceeds apace, mwah ha ha ha!"

My apologies to @SpiderManMovie. I should have remembered that with great power comes great responsibility.
