Bhola Clash: Biplab, hackers sent to jail after remand

A Bhola Court on Wednesday night sent three including Biplab Chandra Shuvo, the holder of hacked Facebook account, to jail after end of 3-day remand in a case filed under Digital Security Act.

Others two are hackers- Rafsan Islam Sharif and Md Imon.

Confirming the matter, Investigating Officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of Borhanuddin Police Station Mohaiminul Islam told The Business Standard, "Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sharif Md Sanaul Haque passed the order."

Defense counsel Monirul Islam said, "We have applied for their bail. Hopefully, court will grant bail on November 3 after hearing. Police ensured that Biplab's Facebook account was hacked."

Biplab, a Hindu youth from Kachia union of the upazila, allegedly uploaded a post on Facebook that hurt Muslim religious sentiment and resulted in a fierce clash in the upazila on Sunday.

On October 20, four people were killed and hundreds injured in Bhola's Borhanuddin upazila in clashes between police and local people. The local people were demonstrating for punishment of a Biplab who, they claimed, had hurt their religious sentiment in a Facebook post.
