BNP has protested against the decision to strip BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman of his title 'Bir Uttam'for his contribution in the Liberation War and for jail order against the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman and other leaders and activists.

A large number of leaders and activists of the BNP and its various affiliates have taken part in the protest rally since Thursday morning in front of the National Press Club in the capital.

 Due to this programme, severe traffic jam was created in the area.

Police were deployed there to avoid unpleasant situations, reports Prothom Alo.

BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and other senior leaders were present in the protest.

BNP leaders alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched to remove the name of their leader, former President Ziaur Rahman.

The government has unjustly sentenced BNP publications secretary and former MP Habibul Islam, 34 leaders and activists from Satkhira and 47 leaders and activists from Pabna, and imprisoned the party's trade secretary Salahuddin Ahmed.
