Man stripped, tortured in front of his daughters after refusing to be yaba trader

A video showing a naked man being brutally beaten in full view of the people including his two daughters for refusing to become a yaba trader has gone viral on the internet.

The video was uploaded after the alleged torturer Hasan, who was indicted for yaba trading and robbery, was arrested on October 27 at Lalmohan, Bhola.

Victim Jashim, a motorbike driver at Lalmohan Upazila, is seen tortured in the video by Hasan, said Lalmohan Police Station officer-in-charge Mir Khairul Kabir adding that no complaint regarding the abusive video had been filed yet.

Hasan got outraged by the refusal and Jashim was stripped naked, his hands and legs were tied and beaten with a stick by Hasan in a public place in Dawri Bazar, Lalmohan.

The video shows an undated incident from 2018, the police officer said.

Two daughters of Jashim were seen on the spot when the barbaric incident took place and their wailings can be heard in the video, he added.

Hasan has long been proposing Jashim to help sell yaba for him. But Jashim repeatedly refused.

Hasan got outraged by the refusal and Jashim was stripped naked, his hands and legs were tied and beaten with a stick by Hasan in a public place in Dawri Bazar, Lalmohan.

In the video, Hasan addresses Jashim as a Bangladesh Nationalist Party activist and a terrorist. Since the video was uploaded people from different quarters have been expressing anger on social media.

The victim Jashim's wife, Jaynab Bibi filed a case in Lalmohan police station on Monday.

"As Jashim is serving time in another case, his wife filed the case," Lalmohan police station officer-in-charge said.

The UNO of Lalmohan, Habibul Hassan Rumi and OC Kabir called a press conference after the video of the incident went viral. The video drew condemnations from netizens.
