Northern region in grip of bone-biting cold

People's daily activities are being disrupted due to the bone chilling winter and cold spell that has taken over the northern region of the country as the temperature is continuously dropping.
It has been foggy since midnight on Monday and No sunlight has been seen in the area since morning. The northern sky is covered with thick fog, according to The Rangpur Meteorological Office.
On Monday, the minimum temperature at Tetulia in northern Panchagarh was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius, while in Rangpur it was recorded at 11.9 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Mostafizur Rahman said cold winds and cold enters Bangladesh through Nepal and Bihar which is why the minimum temperature in the northern districts is likely to decrease further.
He also said the temperature is likely to drop even more during the end of January.

Rangpur district's Civil Surgeon Dr Hirombo Kumar Roy said people of different ages are being admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with various diseases.
Around 400 children, old people and people of different ages have been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and other health complexes in the district.
