Bangladesh climbs up 8 notches on Cyber Security Index 

Bangladesh has improved by 8 steps in the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) of Estonia-based e-Governance Academy Foundation.

The country ranked 65th among 160 countries in the index. 

The National Cyber Security Index is a global index, which measures the preparedness of countries to prevent cyber threats and manage cyber incidents. The NCSI is also a database with publicly available evidence materials and a tool for national cyber security capacity building.

In this index, Bangladesh has risen to 65th position this time from 73rd position.

The NCSI index was developed after assessing basic cyber-attack preparedness and activities in cybercrime, incidents and major crisis management of the countries.

Greece tops the NCSI ranking with 96.1 points, followed by Czech Republic with 92.21 and Estonia with 90.91, according to the data.

The United States ranks 16th in the index, while the United Kingdom ranks 18th. 

Singapore is the only Asia's representative in the top 20. China is in the 80th place. 

Bangladesh ranks second among South Asian countries with a score of 44.16 in this index. And India is in the best position among the countries in the region. The country's score is 59.74, and the index ranks 35th.

Among the other countries in the region, Pakistan is 66th, Nepal 93rd, Sri Lanka 98th, Bhutan 115th, Afghanistan 132nd, and Myanmar 139th.
