Moniruzzaman Monir, the expelled literature affairs secretary of Buet Chhatra League, in his confessional statement on Tuesday said he beat up Abrar with a stamp and was involved in the incident from the very beginning.

He was present at the crime scene from 8pm on October 6 to 2:30am on October 7, said the court sources.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari recorded his confessional statement.

Monir said, he was involved in the plan to beat Abrar from the beginning. On October 4, a meeting was held in the Sher-e Bangla Hall canteen and Chhatra League leaders decided to beat Abrar after his return from Kushtia.

Monir also confessed that he was present till the death of Abrar on October 7.

Court sources said Monir confessed to hitting Abrar on his back with a stump.

He also said Anik Sarker, another accused in the case, was too furious on Abrar. When Abrar didn't say anything about his alleged affiliation with Shibir, Anik hit him mercilessly.

Monir also said they called an ambulance to take Abrar to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Abrar Fahad, a resident of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and a second-year student of the Buet, was beaten to death sometime at night between October 6 and 7 allegedly by some Chhatra League men over his suspected affiliation with the Chhatra Shibir – the student front of the Jamaat-e-Islami.
