Three suspected shooters who opened fire at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai have been arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, Indian media reports said today.
The three suspects were detained at Kota railway station on Monday morning while travelling on a train from Mumbai to Delhi, in a joint operation involving Mumbai Police, Rajasthan Police and railway police.
Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam confirmed the arrests to the Hindustan Times, saying two of the suspects were from Haryana and one from Bihar. Their identities have been established, and they are being questioned, she said.
A police source identified the suspects as Rehan, 18, from Sonipat in Haryana, and Ritik, 22, originally from Begusarai in Bihar. The third suspect is a minor from Haryana.
According to police sources, the three allegedly received Rs 50,000 collectively for carrying out the attack.
Investigators are questioning them to establish their individual roles, including whether all three were directly involved in the shooting.
The arrests follow the firing at a car carrying Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai's Juhu area on 18 October. Tiger escaped unhurt, while his driver and another person sustained injuries.
The suspects have been questioned as investigators probe the motive and an alleged link to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Preliminary questioning of the three suspects revealed that Anil Pandit was in contact with Rehan, Kota district SP said.
She said the accused were travelling on the Pune-Jaipur train that reached Kota station at 10:17am. Mumbai police shared inputs with Gautam, who immediately alerted the district special team.
The suspects told police that they boarded the train after "executing the crime" and planned to take a bus from Jaipur to Delhi to cross the border and enter Nepal, the SP said.
No weapon was recovered from the suspects, she said.
A team from Mumbai Police has reached Kota and the suspects are being handed over to them, she added.
