Human Diagnostic Medical Centre sealed over unauthorised tests on Malaysia-bound workers
Mobile court finds 14 workers underwent medical tests without government approval
A mobile court has sealed Human Diagnostic and Medical Centre in Dhaka's Paltan for allegedly conducting medical tests and issuing reports for Malaysia-bound workers without government approval.
According to a press release issued today (2 October), the court conducted a drive at the centre on Box Culvert Road yesterday (1 October) and found several irregularities.
A review of the centre's database found that it had conducted medical tests and issued reports for 14 Malaysia-bound workers between 20 and 30 September without the required government authorisation.
The court also found that the centre was allegedly operating under another name, Samiha Diagnostic Centre, using a separate signboard in the same building.
Following the findings, the mobile court shut down and sealed the centre to prevent further unauthorised activities.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury said the government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards irregularities, fraud and unauthorised activities in the overseas employment sector.
"The government would not allow any institution to deceive workers seeking employment in Malaysia," he said.
The minister also warned that strict legal action would be taken against institutions issuing fake or fraudulent medical reports for overseas workers.
He added that mobile court drives and surprise inspections would continue across the country to protect migrant workers' interests and ensure transparency in the overseas employment sector.
