Al Jazeera's 'Hasina: 36 Days in July' nominated for International Emmy

Al Jazeera English's investigative documentary Hasina: 36 Days in July has been nominated for the 2026 International Emmy Awards in the Current Affairs category, placing its investigation into Bangladesh's 2024 political upheaval among this year's leading international television productions.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominations on 23 September, with the documentary representing Qatar in the category.

It is competing against three other productions: France's Arte Reportage: My Father's Hair, the United Kingdom's Exposure: Breaking Ranks: Inside Israel's War and Brazil's Profissão Repórter: Feminice.
This year's International Emmys feature 64 nominees across 16 categories from 22 countries.
Documentary investigates 2024 crackdown
Produced by Al Jazeera Investigates, the documentary focuses on the final days of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's 15-year rule during the student-led uprising in July and August 2024.
The investigation draws on secretly obtained audio recordings, covert communications and eyewitness accounts to examine the government's response to the protests and the use of force against demonstrators.
The documentary reports allegations that security forces used lethal weapons, including snipers and helicopter-borne units, against protesters. It also examines alleged attempts to suppress information through internet shutdowns, pressure on victims' families and manipulation of post-mortem records.
The documentary had previously received the Peter Jennings Award from the Overseas Press Club of America for international affairs reporting.
The award citation described the film as a major investigation into the crackdown on protesters and highlighted its use of covert phone recordings obtained from Hasina's security apparatus.
Qatar entry in Current Affairs
Hasina: 36 Days in July is one of four nominees in the Current Affairs category and is officially listed as a Qatar entry, alongside productions from France, the UK and Brazil.
The documentary has brought international attention to events surrounding the 2024 uprising in Bangladesh, with the investigation centred on the government's response to the protests.
The nominees will gather in New York from 20 to 22 November for the International Emmy World Television Festival, which will feature presentations and nominee panels.
The winners will be announced at the 54th International Emmy Awards Gala at the Hilton New York Midtown on 23 November.
