Coast Guard seizes Indian sarees, Punjabis worth Tk7cr in Barguna
During the operation, Coast Guard personnel searched a suspicious fishing boat and a covered van and recovered the Indian clothing items, which had allegedly been brought into the country by evading customs duties.
The Coast Guard has seized 13,507 Indian sarees and 1,466 Indian Punjabis worth around Tk7.04 crore from a fishing boat and a covered van in Patharghata, Barguna.
Five suspected smugglers were also detained during the operation, conducted yesterday (23 September).
Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the information this morning (24 September).

He said Coast Guard Station Patharghata conducted the operation around 2am based on confidential information in an area adjacent to the Bishkhali River in Kakchira Union under the Patharghata police station.
During the operation, Coast Guard personnel searched a suspicious fishing boat and a covered van and recovered the Indian clothing items, which had allegedly been brought into the country by evading customs duties.
The seized goods, vehicles, and detained suspects were handed over to Patharghata Police Station for further legal action.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations to prevent smuggling, Sabbir Alam Sujon said.
