17th International Inter-University Short Film Festival starts 21 September
The 17th International Inter-University Short Film Festival, organised by the Dhaka University Film Society, will hold its main three-day event at the Teacher-Student Centre, University of Dhaka, from 21 to 23 September. The festival received 1,269 short films from student directors in 92 countries, from which a Top 200 selection was chosen for screening.
This year's programme introduces a "Reels of Resistance" category covering human rights, civic resistance, gender justice and displacement, with a cultural theme drawn from Baul traditions. Films screen across four categories, competing for awards including the Zahir Raihan Best Short Award.
A campus screening tour has already visited several universities outside Dhaka. On 23 September, the society and UNDP will host a panel on film, memory and justice. Screenings run daily from 10am to 9pm and are free to attend.
