Selim Barkat appointed FinExcel chairman
Financial Excellence Ltd (FinExcel) appointed Selim Barkat as chairman at its 15th annual general meeting on 12 September.
Barkat brings nearly four decades of leadership experience in banking and financial services across Bangladesh and the United States. According to a press release, he has expertise in strategic leadership, corporate governance, risk management, transaction banking, treasury, and capital markets.
Most recently, he served as Habib Bank (HBL) regional general manager for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Earlier, he held senior positions with Citibank and Citigroup in Bangladesh and New York. He worked in global business management and later as a portfolio banker covering investment banks, broker-dealers, financial market intermediaries and the North American insurance industry.
He also played a pivotal role in establishing Citibank NA's first branch in Bangladesh.
