Measles: Death toll reaches 1,046 as 2 more children die
61 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 20,343.
Two more children died from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8am today (17 September), bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,046.
With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 946 while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths has reached 100, according to the daily update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 1,282 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 1,76,480.
Meanwhile, 61 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 20,343.
Since 15 March, a total of 1,55,602 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 1,49,540 have recovered, according to DGHS.
