Dhaka theatre festival celebrating 416 years of Dhaka city concludes
A nine-day theatre festival organised under the "Hridoye Dhaka 416" programme of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) concluded yesterday (15 September) with a closing ceremony at the Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The festival aimed to showcase Dhaka's 416-year history, heritage and culture to the younger generation.
DSCC Administrator valiant freedom fighter Md Abdus Salam attended the ceremony as chief guest, with DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Khaybar Rahman in the chair, according to a press release.

The first phase of the festival was held for eight days from 16 to 23 August at the Zahir Raihan Cultural Centre auditorium in Sutrapur, Old Dhaka.
The second phase began on 6 September and featured nine plays by nine leading theatre groups over nine days. The productions included "Kinu Kaharer Thetar", "Kunjus", "Trial of Surya Sen", "Aleya", "Company", "Amina Sundari", "Konthonalite Surya", "Se Ek Swapner Raat" and "Sea Morog".
At the ceremony, the DSCC administrator handed over crests, certificates and gifts to the participating theatre groups.
