Delhi placed under tight security ahead of BRICS summit

Delhi has been placed on high alert, with around 30,000 security personnel deployed across the city as authorities impose tight security measures and temporary traffic curbs ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, which begins tomorrow (12 September).
Around 15,000 Delhi Police personnel, 200 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 500 CCTV cameras have been deployed across India's capital, home to more than two crore people, ahead of the two-day summit.

Delhi Police has issued traffic advisories for the movement of VVIP convoys between hotels, transit points and the summit venue, Bharat Mandapam, with only essential and emergency services allowed during peak hours.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung are among the top leaders attending the summit.
