Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia seek to deepen defence cooperation
The two sides discuss military training exchanges, disaster management expertise and more frequent high-level defence visits.
Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have discussed expanding defence cooperation, including military training exchanges, disaster management and increased high-level military visits.
The issues were discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam and Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Zafer bin Abiyah at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment today (2 September), according to a Facebook post by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The two sides discussed bilateral relations, defence cooperation and issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on expanding training programmes and course exchanges between Bangladesh's National Defence College (NDC) and Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and leading military academies in Saudi Arabia.
They also discussed sharing experience and technical expertise in disaster management to strengthen the two countries' ability to respond to natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
Both sides expressed hope that regular exchanges of high-level delegations from their armed forces would further strengthen their strategic and military partnership.
The Saudi ambassador praised the professionalism and capabilities of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
The defence adviser thanked him for the positive progress in bilateral relations and expressed hope that ties between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia would deepen further.
