Lionel Messi has retired from international football at 39, ending an extraordinary Argentina career with 125 goals in 207 appearances. From his heartbreaking 2016 Copa America retirement to winning the 2022 World Cup and three other major trophies, Messi's final decade with Argentina became historic. As his international career ends after the 2026 World Cup, Argentina is considering a grand farewell match in Buenos Aires.
