Bangladesh's dengue death toll has crossed 100 this year as the country recorded a record 1,324 new hospital admissions in the last 24 hours, the highest daily count so far this year.
The latest figures take the country's dengue death toll to 102, according to a press release issued today (1 September) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest daily admissions surpassed the previous high of 1,163 cases recorded yesterday (31 August).

Of the five deaths reported in the latest 24-hour period, one was from Dhaka North City Corporation, two from Dhaka South City Corporation, one from Mymensingh Division and one from Chattogram Division.
With the latest fatalities, the number of dengue-related deaths in Bangladesh this year has reached 102.
Meanwhile, 1,180 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals during the same period, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 34,385.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has now reached 37,170.
