Bablu Mridha killing: Hasina, Obaidul among 33 named in chargesheet
Bablu Mridha was shot while looking for his son on 19 July 2024 and died nearly two months later.
Police have submitted a chargesheet against 33 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, in the murder of mason Md Bablu Mridha in Jatrabari during the 2024 July Uprising.
Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector and investigation officer Mahmudul Hasan Irfan submitted the chargesheet to the court on 13 August, according to sources at the Dhaka Metropolitan Prosecution Division.
The court is scheduled to hear the matter on 24 September.

According to the case statement, Bablu left home on 19 July 2024 to look for his elder son, Abu Taleb, who was taking part in the anti-discrimination student movement in the Dania and Lucky Community Centre areas of Jatrabari.
When he reached the Lucky Community Centre area, he was shot in the back. Locals rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was later admitted to Combined Military Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment on 9 September 2024.
Bablu's wife, Seema Begum, filed the murder case with Jatrabari Police Station on 19 November 2024.
Among the other notable accused are former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former law minister Anisul Huq, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, former state minister for information Mohammad Ali Arafat, former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, former Barishal City Corporation mayor Sadiq Abdullah, former lawmakers SM Shahzada and Mohiuddin Maharaj, former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and former Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Habibur Rahman.
