Dengue: Year's highest 1,163 hospitalised in a day, 4 more die
Four more deaths raise Bangladesh’s dengue toll to 97.
Bangladesh recorded its highest daily number of dengue hospitalisations this year, with 1,163 patients admitted across the country in the 24 hours to 8am today (31 August), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The previous highest daily hospitalisation count was 1,097, recorded on 30 August.
Four more people died from dengue during the latest 24-hour period, taking the death toll to 97 this year.
Of the reported deaths, one was from Dhaka North City Corporation, two from Dhaka South City Corporation and one from Mymensingh Division.
Meanwhile, 1,017 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals during the period, taking total recoveries this year to 33,205.
The total number of dengue cases recorded in the country this year has reached 35,846.
