Deputy Attorney General Rupa files petition challenging ACC notice

Deputy Attorney General (DAG), Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa has filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the legality of the Anti-Corruption Commission's notice that asked her to appear before it on allegations of amassing wealth beyond known income sources.
Appearing on behalf of DAG Rupa, lawyer Suraya Begum filed the petition on Sunday.
In the petition, the Deputy Attorney General also sought a stay order on effectiveness of the ACC notice.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel may hear the petition.
On October 28, the anti-graft body had served the notice to DAG Rupa, requesting her to appear at their headquarters for questioning on November 4.
According to the notice, DAG Jannatul Ferdousi Rupa had allegedly amassed wealth beyond known income sources through irregularities, corruption, abuse of power, bribery, forgery and collusion with several accused individuals, including expelled Juba League leader, GK Shamim.
Home Secretary, ACC Chairman, ACC Director General (Special Enquiry and Investigation-2) and ACC Deputy Director (Special Enquiry and Investigation-2) have been referenced as defendants in the petition.
