CRCC pledges to accelerate Dhaka-Ashulia expressway work
China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Co Ltd (CRCC) has pledged to accelerate construction of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway and complete the project by June 2028.
A high-level CRCC delegation was committed during a meeting with Bridge Division Secretary and Bangladesh Bridge Authority Executive Director Mohammad Abdur Rouf in Dhaka on Tuesday, according to a press release.
CRCC Chairman Wu Yankun led the delegation.
The meeting focused on accelerating the government-to-government project, which aims to ease traffic congestion at Dhaka's western gateway and in surrounding industrial areas while establishing uninterrupted road connectivity.
Mohammad Abdur Rouf said the country's transport system was undergoing a major transformation as part of the government's efforts to build a modern Bangladesh.
He said the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway had advanced because of the Prime Minister's guidance, strong commitment, approval of the second Revised Development Project Proposal, and continuous monitoring.
He also credited the leadership of the Minister and State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges with helping advance the country's overall transport infrastructure.
The bridge secretary said that, once operational, the expressway would significantly improve road connectivity between Dhaka and the country's northern and western regions.
It would also transform connectivity among Savar, Ashulia, and the Dhaka Export Processing Zone while strengthening uninterrupted links between the capital and northern districts, he said.
Mohammad Abdur Rouf said the improved connectivity would have a far-reaching impact on the country's economic growth.
CRCC Chairman Wu Yankun thanked the Government of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Bridge Division for their cooperation.
He expressed the company's determination to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe by applying international-standard engineering technology, improving efficiency and increasing the supply of workers, equipment and construction materials.
The meeting also stressed the need for adequate traffic management, proper signage and improved safety measures to ensure smooth public movement through areas where construction is underway.
Mohammad Abdur Rouf instructed the Bridge Division, the contractor and the project director to maintain construction quality and complete the expressway by June 2028 as scheduled.
