Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol) has signed a financing agreement with M S Dyeing, Printing and Finishing Ltd to install a 5.85-megawatt peak (MWp) rooftop solar power system in Narayanganj.
The project will cover 13 industrial rooftops at the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation Industrial Estate in Fatullah, according to a press release.
Once operational, the installation is expected to generate around 6.3 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 3,900 tonnes a year.
Alongside financing, Idcol will provide technical guidance and long-term performance monitoring to improve energy efficiency and reduce the company's dependence on the national grid.
Idcol Acting Managing Director SM Monirul Islam and M S Dyeing, Printing and Finishing Ltd Managing Director Md Mamunur Rashid signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at Idcol's headquarters in Dhaka.

Md Mamunur Rashid said integrating renewable energy into the company's facilities would improve operational efficiency while advancing its commitment to environmental responsibility.
The project supports Bangladesh's climate and renewable energy targets under its Nationally Determined Contributions.
