Jashore Board SSC pass rate falls 7.42%, GPA-5 numbers decline

The pass rate in the Jashore Education Board's SSC examinations fell to 66.27% this year, down from 73.69% last year, while the number of students securing GPA-5 also declined significantly.

A total of 11,478 students achieved GPA-5 this year, compared with 15,419 in 2025 - a decrease of 3,941. 20,761 students secured GPA-5 under the board in 2024.

Professor SM Hossain Ali, controller of examinations at the Jashore Education Board, announced the SSC results at around 10:30am today (10 August).

The board's pass rate has declined sharply over the past three years, falling from 92.32% in 2024 to 73.69% in 2025 and 66.27% this year. The decline amounts to 26.05 percentage points over two years.

A similar trend was seen in GPA-5 results, with the number of top scorers falling from 20,761 in 2024 to 15,419 in 2025 and 11,478 in 2026.

According to board data, 132,940 students from 10 districts of Khulna Division appeared for the SSC examinations this year. Of them, 88,097 passed, including 39,634 boys and 48,463 girls.

In 2025, 138,851 students from 2,575 schools across the 10 districts appeared for the examinations. Of them, 102,319 passed, including 46,587 boys and 55,732 girls.

Hossain Ali attributed the decline in the pass rate partly to students' increasing reliance on mobile phones, which he said had reduced their interest in studies.

He also identified weaknesses in English and Mathematics as contributing factors.

The examination controller said answer scripts had been evaluated properly and that no candidates had been awarded additional marks.
