PM taking strict action against negligence in govt duties: Rizvi

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is taking strict action against any negligence in government duties, holding both bureaucrats and political figures accountable, PM's Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said.

Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting today (8 August) at the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) auditorium, Rizvi unveiled the book titled  "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's Five-Month Development Journey," edited by Rotarian M Najmul Hasan.

Highlighting the government's activities over the past five months, Rizvi said various criticisms have been directed at the elected administration led by Tarique, but the book compiles statistics and events showcasing the government's achievements during this period.

"The nation knows and has seen this. When all information is compiled and presented coherently, it will serve as an important document," he said.

Outlining government initiatives, Rizvi mentioned the government's family and farmers' cards, canal excavation and the upcoming health card. The book also provides a brief overview of the steps taken by the prime minister to address the gas crisis, he added.

He stated that immediately after assuming power, the prime minister has been travelling across the country's fields, markets, and ports to implement his pre-election pledges. Working day and night, the prime minister personally oversees whether his commitments are being fulfilled, Rizvi said.

"The prime minister is not showing any laxity in this regard. If anyone fails to perform their duties—whether a bureaucrat or a political figure—he is taking strict action against the negligence," Rizvi said, adding that the administration is simultaneously encouraging and motivating those dedicated to public welfare.

Addressing propaganda against the administration, the BNP leader said attempts by detractors to smear the government and obstruct its work will be countered by the documented facts and statistics presented in the book.

"When such a book is compiled with information, statistics, and data regarding the prime minister's activities and his dedication to the people, it will serve as a vital document for everyone," Rizvi said. 

"People will then realise that those spreading propaganda, confusion, and falsehoods against the government are merely trying to hinder its good work."
