Iran controls Hormuz; why did the US agree?
A significant portion of the world's total oil trade is transported through the Strait of Hormuz. Since recent geopolitical tensions, there has been extreme uncertainty in the navigation of Western and Middle Eastern ships through this strait. However, in light of the new agreement, it is being clarified that the overall traffic management and sovereign control of this strategically sensitive sea route will remain with Iran.
