Dengue claims one life; 139 new patients hospitalised in 24hrs
During the same 24-hour period, 124 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals
Bangladesh recorded one dengue-related death and 139 new hospital admissions due to the mosquito-borne disease in the 24 hours until this morning (22 June), according to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The information was disclosed in a press release issued today by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS.
Of the newly hospitalised patients, 46 were reported from Barishal division, 14 from Chattogram, 12 from Dhaka division, 16 from Khulna, one from Mymensingh, nine from Rajshahi, one from Rangpur and three from Sylhet division, excluding the respective city corporation areas.
In the capital, 16 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation, while 21 were reported in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation.
With the latest fatality, the number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 10. Of these, five deaths have been reported during the first 22 days of June.
During the same 24-hour period, 124 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 4,692.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country in 2026 has now reached 5,039.
According to DGHS data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from the disease in 2025.
The year before, the country reported 101,214 dengue infections and 575 dengue-related deaths.
