5 Indian Air Force personnel killed as transport plane crashes
A court of inquiry has been ordered into the crash
Five Indian Air Force personnel were killed when the transport plane AN-32 crashed while landing in Assam's Jorhat district today (13 June).
The Indian Air Force said in an X post that it "deeply regrets the loss of five personnel in the An-32 accident at Jorhat, Assam."
It identified the deceased as Sqn Ldr Prashant Singh, Flt Lt Shubham Kumar, Sgt Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.
The IAF extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and stands firmly with them in this hour of grief, the post said.
A defence spokesman earlier said on X that the incident occurred while the aircraft was landing at the IAF's airbase in the Rowriah area.
