Govt proposes Tk1,844cr for foreign ministry
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury suggested Tk 1,610 crore to be earmarked for operational expenditures and the rest Tk 234 crore for the ministry's Annual Development Programme (ADP).
The government today proposed an allocation of Tk1,844 crore for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the fiscal year 2026-27, increasing spending to support Bangladesh's growing diplomatic engagements and international commitments.
The proposed allocation suggested an increase of Tk80 crore from the revised budget of Tk1,764 crore for the outgoing fiscal year 2025-26.

The original allocation for the foreign office in the outgoing fiscal was Tk1,704 crore.
The enhanced allocation came as Bangladesh continues to expand its diplomatic outreach, strengthen bilateral and multilateral engagements, and advance its interests in regional and global forums.
