About 500 illegal structures were demolished in an eviction drive from Farmgate to Indira road

The Dhaka North City Corporation demolished 1537 illegal structures in different areas of the capital on Monday.

A mobile court led by Dhaka north's Executive Magistrate Sajid Anwar gave the order to demolish more than 300 makeshift shops and structures from different areas in Karwanbazar, including the rice market, the fish market and the rail track areas.

Meanwhile, about 500 illegal structures were demolished in an eviction drive from Farmgate to Indira road.

While in Mirpur's section 6, block-A, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate SM Shafiul Azam demolished 87 illegal structures and fined 2 businessmen more than Tk2 lakh for illegally keeping goods on the roads and pavements.

Executive Magistrates Md Abdul Hamid Mian and Zulkar Nayem removed around 650 illegal structures in Uttara-9, Uttara-10 and the Khilkhet kitchen market areas.

They also collected Tk87,000 in fines after filing seven different cases against businessmen who failed to show their trade licenses.

Officials said Dhaka north's eviction drives will continue for the time being.
