10 die from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours; death toll rises to 575
So far this year, at least 90 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 485 children have died with symptoms consistent with measles.
Ten children died from a measles-like symptoms between 8:00am yesterday and 8:00am today (29 May), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total death toll has now risen to 575.
During the same period, 674 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide.
Of these, 58 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 90 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 485 children have died with symptoms consistent with measles.
DGHS data shows that between 15 March and 29 May, a total of 8,943 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
According to the latest health bulletin, 68,579 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide.
Of these, 51,511 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
