2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV 3X Omega Edition: Too big, too fast, too futuristic
The Hummer EV SUV 3X Omega Edition is powered by a tri-motor setup producing 830 horsepower and an outrageous 15,591Nm of wheel torque
There are SUVs, there are supercars, and then there is the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV 3X Omega Edition. A machine so excessive, so unapologetically overbuilt, that it almost feels like a concept car accidentally escaped into the real world.
Recently, we had the opportunity to experience one of these rare electric giants, courtesy of New Auto Galaxy, a prestigious dealership of brand new and reconditioned vehicles.
Finished in the exclusive Neptune Blue matte paint unique to the Omega Edition, this Hummer looks unlike anything else on the road. While we did not get the chance to properly drive the vehicle ourselves, spending time around it, sitting inside it, exploring its features, and experiencing its brutal acceleration from the passenger seat was enough to understand why this SUV has become such a phenomenon globally.
And honestly, nothing really prepares you for how enormous this thing is in person.
The Hummer EV SUV 3X Omega Edition is powered by a tri-motor setup producing 830 horsepower and an outrageous 15,591Nm of wheel torque, or 1,200lb-ft of motor torque. It can sprint from 0–60mph in around 3.5 seconds despite weighing nearly 4.5 tonnes. That figure alone sounds absurd. Vehicles this heavy are not supposed to accelerate like sports cars. Yet the Hummer EV does exactly that while looking like it could climb over a building if necessary.
Visually, the Omega Edition looks even more dramatic than the standard Hummer EV. The matte Neptune Blue finish gives it a stealthy futuristic appearance that suits the vehicle perfectly. The upright stance, wide body, massive tyres, and intricate LED lighting signatures make it look more like military hardware than a conventional SUV. Everywhere it goes, it creates a scene.
And then you step inside.
The cabin is gigantic. Not merely spacious by SUV standards, but genuinely lounge-like. Compared to most luxury SUVs, the sense of openness inside the Hummer EV feels almost surreal. The flat floor, made possible by the EV platform, transforms the legroom experience entirely. There is space everywhere: shoulder room, knee room, headroom. Even taller passengers will struggle to find a position where they feel cramped.
The interior theme on this particular example featured a two-tone white and black finish that leaned more toward technical sophistication than traditional luxury. Instead of glossy wood trims and classic styling cues, the Hummer EV embraces a rugged futuristic identity. Soft-touch materials cover most contact points, while rubberised trims and metallic-looking accents reinforce the industrial aesthetic. Some plastic surfaces do exist here and there, but overall, the cabin still feels convincingly premium.
The rear passengers are treated especially well. Dedicated climate control knobs, heated rear seats, USB-C ports, conventional USB ports, and charging adapters make the second row feel genuinely high-end. The seats themselves are wide and comfortable, complementing the massive amount of legroom available.
One of the coolest features is the removable Infinity Roof with opaque Sky Panels. The glass roof sections can actually be removed and stored neatly inside the front trunk or "frunk", instantly transforming the cabin atmosphere into something much more open and adventurous.
Technology is everywhere inside the Hummer EV. A massive 13.4-inch infotainment display dominates the centre console, paired with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Thankfully, GMC has avoided the mistake many modern manufacturers make by eliminating physical controls entirely. Real knobs and toggle switches remain for climate and audio adjustments, making the cabin feel intuitive rather than frustrating.
The software itself is packed with visual flair. There are animated power-flow graphics, terrain data, off-road telemetry systems, multiple camera modes, and countless displays showing what the vehicle is doing underneath. It feels like operating a futuristic expedition machine rather than an ordinary SUV. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both included, naturally.
Then there is CrabWalk, arguably the Hummer EV's party trick. By turning all four wheels in the same direction, the vehicle can move diagonally at low speeds. It sounds ridiculous until you see it in action. Combined with the extensive camera systems and off-road technologies, it becomes clear that the Hummer EV is not just about straight-line speed. It was engineered to dominate difficult terrain as well.
The sound system is solid too. It delivers clean and powerful audio performance that will satisfy most buyers comfortably. However, hardcore audiophiles expecting ultra-high-end acoustic brilliance may find it slightly underwhelming compared to dedicated luxury brands.
Of course, the real headline feature remains the acceleration.
Experiencing the Hummer EV launch is borderline terrifying. The instant electric torque hits with shocking violence, especially considering the vehicle's massive size. Under hard acceleration, the front end visibly lifts, creating an almost theatrical effect for people watching outside. It is one of those vehicles that completely rewires your understanding of physics.
At the same time, the weight never disappears. Yes, it is extraordinarily fast, but it does not feel like a sports car. Through corners, the sheer mass becomes obvious. There is confidence and stability, but also an unmistakable sense that you are managing something immensely heavy. The adjustable suspension system, controlled via a physical knob in the centre console, helps tailor the driving characteristics depending on terrain and conditions. The brakes perform respectably, although once again, the 4.5-tonne weight remains impossible to ignore.
Ultimately, the Hummer EV SUV 3X Omega Edition is not a rational vehicle. It is excessive, enormous, power-hungry, and hilariously impractical for a congested city like Dhaka. Parking it would be stressful. Navigating narrow streets would require patience. Owning one as your only car would make little sense.
But that is also exactly why it feels special.
You simply will not see anything else like it on the road. It combines outrageous performance, cutting-edge EV technology, genuine off-road capability, and undeniable presence into one wildly entertaining package. More than transportation, the Hummer EV feels like an event every single time it appears.
And perhaps that is the point. The Omega Edition is not meant to be a sensible one-car solution. It is the kind of machine you add to a collection simply because nothing else delivers this exact experience.
