A Dhaka court today (21 May) deferred the charge framing hearing against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others in a case filed over the killing of truck driver Md Hossen in the city's Mohammadpur area during the July Uprising.
Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 passed the order, confirmed Advocate Farzana Yasmin Rakhi.
The hearing has now been scheduled for 25 June following a petition submitted by the defence.
According to the petition for adjournment, the case is highly significant and involves extensive documentation.
The petition states that an effective discharge hearing cannot be conducted without thoroughly reviewing and analysing the charge sheet submitted by the investigating officer, witness statements, lists of seized evidence, seizure lists, digital information and data, call records, video footage, forensic reports, and other relevant documents.
"Sufficient time is therefore required," it added.
