Two youths were killed after being run over by a train while "filming a TikTok video" on a railway track in Gazipur city's Dhirasram area last night (13 May).
The incident occurred near Dhirasram Railway Station when a Dhaka-bound train was passing through the area, said Joydebpur Station Master Mahmudul Hasan.
One of the deceased was identified as Md Naim, son of Md Noman Uddin of Kapashia upazila. He had been living with his aunt in the Dhirasram area and was a student of Girija Kishore High School. The identity of the other victim could not be known immediately.
Mahmudul Hasan said the railway police recovered the bodies from the scene.
"Initial information suggests the two youths may have been filming a TikTok video on the railway tracks in an unsafe manner when the train struck them," he said.
Naim's cousin, Md Abdur Kadir, said Naim had been sitting for this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.
"At around 9pm, he left home with his mobile phone, saying he had some urgent work," Kadir said.
Later, locals informed the family that the mutilated bodies of Naim and his friend had been found beside the railway tracks near the station.
