Prominent artist Monsur Ul Karim passes away

He was honored with Ekushey Padak in 2009 as the recognition of his contributions to the country's painting industry

Ekushey award winner prominent artist Monsur Ul Karim has passed away while he was undergoing treatment in the capital's United Hospital. 

He was at his 70. Confirming his death, his family members prayed for the salvation of the departed soul on Monday. 

Monsur was born in Rajbari district of then East Pakistan in 1950. He completed his graduation from Dhaka Art Institute in 1972 and post graduation in Chattagram University in 1974.

He later taught for 40 years in the Faculty of Fine Arts from Chattagram University.

He has made outstanding contributions to the country's painting industry since the early seventies. He was honored with Ekushey Padak in 2009 as the recognition of his contributions.
