A group of university students were planning to visit Cox's Bazar, and stay at Royal Tulip Hotel; however, they had to put their plan on hold, as they could not afford to bear the expenses of their several days' visit.

The Asian Tourism Fair in the capital has brought smiles on the face of these students, as the Royal Tulip Hotel in Cox's Bazar is now offering discounts up to 53 percent at the three-day tourism fair that began on Thursday at the International Convention City in Bashundhara in the capital.

The discount offer has send the students taking instant decision to visit Cox's Bazar. "This is the right place for us to visit. Besides, I think it is the best time to go to Cox's Bazar," said Shahin Ahmed, a second year student of Daffodil International University.

Many other hotels and resorts are also offering discounts at the fair, one of them being SKD Amar Bari, a resort in Sreemangal, that has come up with a discount offer up to 45 percent.

Besides, airlines and tour operators have come up with attractive discounts to tour lovers. Almost all the airlines, taking part in the fair, are offering discounts on their regular fares. Irving Aviation Ltd has a 3 nights and 4 days' tour offer to Beijing at only Tk35,000.

Airlines and the leading hotels and resorts in Dhaka, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar are participating at the Asian Tourism Fair, the other participating countries being Bhutan, India, Nepal, China, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. The participating countries are displaying their services and products at 120 stalls at the fair.

Parjatan Bichitra, a magazine on tourism, organised the fair with assistance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Md Mahbub Ali, state minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, inaugurated the fair.

Local representatives of a number of foreign hospitals also participated in the fair. "If anyone is seeking appointment with any of our doctors, we will help them in this regard, and the service will be free of cost," said Iman Hasan, the senior executive of Bangkok Hospital Office, Bangladesh.

The Bangkok Hospital also provides air ambulance service to its foreign clients.

Apart from the tour operators; hotels; and resorts, ABH World, a software and web development company is also taking part in the fair.

ABH World usually makes back-office software that is used to run an office, as well as, develop websites. The software and web-development company is taking part in the fair with the aim to promote its products among exhibitors, not among the visitors, said Abu Hurayra Foysal, managing director of ABH World.
