Six-time MP Kaikobad to become religious affairs minister

Six-time Member of Parliament Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, vice chairman of the BNP, is set to become religious affairs minister.
He was sworn in as a minister today (17 February) after being called by the Cabinet Division.
Kaikobad secured his sixth term as a member of parliament from Cumilla-3 (Muradnagar) in the 13th parliamentary election.
He won the seat by a margin of over 50,000 votes, receiving 1,59,251 votes. His closest rival, Yousuf Hakim Sohel of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, got 1,09,599 votes.
He was earlier elected to parliament in 1986, 1988, 1991, 2001 and 2008. In 1986, he served as a parliamentary whip. Two years later, in 1988, he took the responsibility of state minister for the religious affairs ministry.
