Fresh attempts are underway to distort Liberation War history: Salahuddin
BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today (3 February) said a vested quarter is conspiring to distort the history of Bangladesh's Liberation War.
Addressing an election rally at Jangalkata in Konakhali union of Chakaria upazila, he said a political party that once opposed the Liberation War is now trying to rewrite its history.
Salahuddin alleged that the party chief delivered misleading and false information on the proclamation of independence to distort the real history.
He said such statements are unexpected as people know the true history and warned that the party is trying to present itself as a supporter of the Liberation War for political gain and may even claim in future to have fought for independence.
Calling on patriotic citizens and pro-liberation forces, he urged protest against any distortion of national history.
Salauddin also criticized the party's recent remarks on women, saying proposals to reduce women's working hours are aimed at destroying women's employment.
Local BNP leaders and activists, including Cox's Bazar District BNP Organizing Secretary Jamil Ibrahim Chowdhury, were present at the meeting.
