Nahid files writ challenging BNP leader Quayum’s candidacy in Dhaka-11
The petition seeks a stay on the candidature of Dr MA Quayum in the constituency on allegations of dual citizenship and concealment of information.
A writ petition has been filed challenging the validity of the candidature of BNP candidate Dr MA Quayum in Dhaka-11 on allegations of dual citizenship and concealment of information.
The writ was filed today (2 February) by Nahid Islam, candidate of the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance for Dhaka-11 and convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP).
The petition seeks a stay on the candidature of Quayum in the constituency.
Advocate Zahirul Islam Musa and Advocate Ali Azgar Sharifi are representing Nahid.
Musa said the High Court is expected to hear the petition later this week.
Notably, the EC earlier declared the nomination papers of Nahid and Qayyum valid.
