Cold intensifies with 6.7°C recorded in Naogaon
Rajshahi recorded 7.6°C, while Tetulia recorded 7.5°C.
The country's lowest temperature was recorded at Badalgachhi in Naogaon at 6.7°C this morning (7 January), according to the Rajshahi weather office.
Rajshahi recorded 7.6°C, while Tetulia recorded 7.5°C.
Moderate cold weather is continuing in Gopalganj. At 6am today, the district recorded 7.0°C and humidity stood at 97%.
The Gopalganj weather office said temperatures started falling quickly from last night (6 January). The temperature was 7.7°C and humidity was 94% in the early hours today.
Acting officer at the Gopalganj weather office, Abu Sufian, said Gopalganj first recorded the country's lowest temperature of the season on 30 December at 7.5°C. He said the temperature rose for a short time but has dropped again, creating a moderate cold spell. He added that the cold may continue through the month, although sunlight may appear during the day if fog clears.
At 6am today, Chuadanga recorded a temperature of 7°C. Chuadanga weather officer Jaminur Rahman said a moderate cold wave is sweeping over the district. He said the temperature is fluctuating between 7°C and 9°C, and humidity was 97% in the morning.
The agriculture department said rabi rice seedbeds and other winter crops may be affected. Officials warned farmers could face financial losses without proper protection.
The weather and agriculture departments have advised people to prepare for the cold and follow health and safety guidelines.
