MoFA assures embassies of security ahead of polls, invites foreign observers
The briefing primarily focused on the administration's preparations for the 13th national election
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today (18 December) briefed development partners, foreign diplomats, and key stakeholders on the updated preparations and security measures taken for the upcoming national polls and referendum.
During the briefing, which commenced at 3pm at the State Guest House Padma in the capital, the envoys were also informed of the Election Commission welcoming foreign election observers and were invited to send observers of their own, according to a press release.
The embassies were also assured of their security in this regard.
The briefing primarily focused on the administration's preparations for the 13th national election, scheduled for 12 February 2026.
Some forty diplomats who were present during the meeting were also informed that the law enforcement forces of the country, including the armed forces, are on high alert and are working towards maintaining law and order, adds the release.
