Police say their preliminary assessment suggests that the facial features of the person who fired shots at Osman Hadi from the back of a motorcycle match those of Faisal Karim Masud.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has released a photograph of one Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Daud Khan, and has sought information from the public about him, following yesterday's gun attack on Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
In a press release issued this morning (13 December), DMP Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman requested citizens to provide any relevant information regarding the suspect.
According to police sources, after reviewing CCTV footage from the Inqilab Cultural Centre and from the scene of the attack, as well as other available information, police believe him to be the prime suspect.
Police said their preliminary assessment suggests that the facial features of the person who fired shots at Osman Hadi from the back of a motorcycle match those of Faisal Karim Masud.
The DMP press release reads, "After analysing CCTV footage from the scene, the individual shown in the images has been preliminarily identified. The DMP is are conducting an intensive manhunt to locate him."
The DMP urged anyone with information about the person, or who may spot him, to inform the police immediately by calling 999 or via the following mobile numbers: 01320040080 (DMP deputy commissioner for Motijheel) or 01320040132 (Paltan Police Station OC).

Notably, in November 2024, several mainstream media outlets published reports with photographs of Faisal, stating that he had been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) as the prime accused in a robbery case involving the looting of Tk17 lakh at gunpoint from an office in Adabor.
However, no reports were later found explaining how he had been released.
