Position Overview
The CBO will serve as the Bank's principal business architect, providing strategic leadership across Corporate Banking, SME, Retail, Digital Business, Liability Mobilization, and new business ventures. The role ensures that business growth remains aligned with profitability, competitive positioning, and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and drive the Bank's overall business strategy to achieve sustainable growth across Corporate, SME, Retail, Digital Banking, Cards, and Liability Mobilization.
- Lead initiatives to grow asset and liability portfolios, increase non-funded income, and maintain business profitability across all segments.
- Provide strategic guidance to the heads of Corporate Banking, SME, Retail, Cards, Agent Banking, and Digital Channels to ensure seamless execution of business targets.
- Collaborate with Credit, CRM, ERM, and Risk Divisions to maintain alignment between business growth, credit quality, risk appetite, and regulatory standards.
- Strengthen relationships with high-value corporate clients, industry bodies, regulators, and development partners to drive large-ticket business opportunities.
- Identify new market segments, develop innovative banking products, refine pricing strategies, and introduce competitive business solutions.
- Lead liability growth strategies, enhance CASA base, and expand deposit channels through branches, digital banking, agent banking, and institutional relationships.
- Oversee MIS, dashboards, segmentation analysis, and business intelligence to enable data-driven decision-making and performance optimisation.
- Expand SME and retail franchise by strengthening lending, retail products, and nationwide distribution channels.
- Spearhead business transformation through fintech partnerships, digital onboarding, API banking, merchant acquisition, and card business expansion.
- Provide strategic oversight of branch business performance, ensuring target achievement, productivity, cost control, and customer experience excellence.
- Ensure compliance with Bangladesh Bank regulations, internal policies, credit guidelines, and risk governance frameworks.
- Mentor senior business leaders, develop managerial talent, and promote a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, innovation, and ethical practices.
- Collaborate with MD & CEO, DMDs, CCO, COERM, and other key executives to align business strategy with technology, operations, credit, and risk frameworks.
- Continuously monitor market trends, competitor strategies, macroeconomic indicators, and industry developments to guide strategic decisions.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 25 years of progressive banking experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record in managing large business portfolios, achieving revenue targets, and driving business transformation.
- Strong understanding of Corporate, SME, Retail, Liability Management, Cards, and Digital Banking.
- Experience in leading large teams and managing multi-segment business ecosystems.
- Sound knowledge of Bangladesh Bank regulations, credit policies, risk management, and business governance.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate business models, diversify portfolios, and strengthen market competitiveness.
Educational Qualifications
- Postgraduate/Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Management, or related disciplines from a reputed public or UGC-approved private university.
- Professional certifications in banking, credit, risk, leadership, or strategy will be considered an added advantage.
- No 3rd Division/Class in any academic record is acceptable.
