Bangladesh polls: Expatriate voter registration begins in 16 countries including US, Canada, Australia
Expatriates can register through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app
Bangladesh has launched voter registration for expatriates in 16 countries — including the United States, Canada, and Australia — to enable them to cast ballots through postal voting for the first time.
Expatriates can register through the 'Postal Vote BD' app until 28 November.
The Election Commission (EC) has introduced overseas postal voting for expatriate Bangladeshis and is operating a 24/7 helpdesk to provide technical support throughout the registration process.

The countries where registration has opened are: the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and the Bahamas.
According to an EC press release, registration for expatriates living in East Asia, South America and Africa will also continue until 28 November.
Earlier, between 19 and 23 November, the first phase of registration was conducted for expatriates residing in East Asia, Africa and South America.
As of 10pm yesterday, a total of 23,801 expatriates from those regions had registered via the app. Among them, 21,468 are men and 2,333 are women, according to data available on the EC portal.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasiruddin inaugurated the 'Postal Vote BD' app on 18 November. On the same day, the EC announced the registration schedule for postal voting in 148 designated countries for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.
