Court orders to send him to jail
Police have arrested Mufti Mamunur Rashid Qasemi, founder of the Sharia-based marriage consultancy platform 'Ideal Marriage Bureau', in connection with a case filed by his wife under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
He was detained from his residence in Keraniganj's Atibazar around 3pm today (23 November), Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam told The Business Standard.
According to police, Qasemi's wife filed the case at Keraniganj Police Station on Friday (21 November).
Acting on the complaint, law enforcers arrested him today and later produced him before the court of Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Victoria Chakma.
The court ordered to send Qasemi to jail, said Inspector Kamal Uddin of police prosecution division.
