NITER hosts IPE Fest 2025 celebrating innovation and collaboration
The National Institute of Textile Engineering & Research (NITER) hosted the 'NITER IPE Fest 2025', a three-day celebration of innovation, creativity, and collaboration between academia and industry.
Organised by the Department of Industrial & Production Engineering (IPE), the festival took place from 6–8 November, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and professionals across Bangladesh's industrial sector.
The opening day featured a rally, flashmob, and inaugural ceremony that set a festive tone throughout the campus. With spirited student participation, the NITER grounds came alive with youthful energy and academic enthusiasm.
The second day hosted the Grand Finale of the festival's flagship competitions. In the 'CAD Craft' segment, Team IUT_DocHudson from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) won the championship, while MakeVengeance finished as first runner-up. In the 'Case Craft' contest, Case Closed Crew (IUT) were crowned champions, followed by Rogue Three (IUT) as first runner-up and FakiBaj.com from the University of Chittagong as second runner-up.
The final day featured 'Lead Talk', the festival's most anticipated session, where leading industry professionals and academics shared insights on leadership, innovation, and future industrial challenges. Speakers included A S M Tanvir Hasan, Head of Quality Management (Refrigerator), Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC; Md Matiur Rahman (Robin), Director of Essential Clothing Ltd and SUST alumnus; Dr M A H Mitthu, Professor of IPE at SUST; Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Group Deputy COO, Akij Resources; and Mominul Islam of Intertek Bangladesh.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shawkat Aziz Russell, Chairman of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), as chief guest. Dr Ashekul Alam Rana, Director of NITER, attended as special guest, while Raihan Ahmed Joy, Head of the IPE Department, presided over the event.
The festival concluded with an award ceremony, cultural performances, and a vibrant band show. More than just an annual celebration, 'NITER IPE Fest 2025' has emerged as a dynamic platform inspiring young engineers to lead Bangladesh's industrial transformation through innovation and collaboration.
