Grameen Danone wins PMI Bangladesh award for social impact
Grameen Danone Foods Limited has been recognised as first runner-up in the 'Social Impact Project of the Year (Small)' category at the Bangladesh Project Management Awards 2025, organised by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Bangladesh Chapter.
The ceremony, held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden, celebrated organisations that demonstrate excellence in project management and contribute to sustainable development across the country.
The recognition honours Grameen Danone's 'Milk for School Programme', implemented in partnership with Heifer International Korea and Heifer International Bangladesh. The initiative, launched in Ullapara, Sirajganj, empowers local women dairy farmers by ensuring fair prices for their milk through a dedicated chilling centre. The collected milk is used to produce Shokti+ fortified yoghurt, which is distributed free of charge to 2,245 schoolchildren in the community.
The programme has created significant social and economic impact by promoting women's empowerment, improving child nutrition and supporting sustainable livelihoods. It also contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Speaking on the achievement, Dipesh Nag, Managing Director of Grameen Danone Foods Limited, said: "We are honoured to receive this recognition from PMI Bangladesh. The Milk for School Programme reflects our commitment to building healthier communities through collaboration, innovation and shared value creation."
Since its inception, the PMI Bangladesh Chapter has recognised organisations and individuals who demonstrate leadership, innovation and excellence in project management to drive Bangladesh's growth and development.
