Coast Guard rescues 13 after lighter vessel collision near Bhola

The Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued 13 crew members after two lighter vessels collided near Barishal Bazar Lal Ghat Island under Tazumuddin Thana, Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq confirmed on Tuesday night.
He said the incident occurred at around 2:00am on Tuesday (21 October) when the MV Umme Habiba and the MV Modern Marine-19 collided. The hull of the Modern Marine-19 was breached, water entered the hold, and the vessel lost control before grounding on a shoal. The crew subsequently sought Coast Guard assistance.
A rescue team from Coast Guard Station Ramgati reached the scene promptly and recovered all 13 crew members safely, later handing them over to the vessel owners' representatives.
The Coast Guard stated that it will continue to conduct such humanitarian and service operations.
